First and most importantly, we have priced this boat over $10K less then the average SELLING price of this model of $39K with the best examples selling in the $50s. Condition-wise, this one is right up there with the best of them. I'd be happy to provide you with SoldBoats.com data to verify this information. Basically, there is a huge discount already built into the asking price and we ask that you please respect it.
We also do not want you to think there is a problem with this boat because of the low price. We recently had a trade-in survey (no written report) and it checked out well. It is priced well to sell quickly to get the owners into a new boat. Somebody will be getting a rare spectacular deal on a really good boat and it could be you. While we encourage and expect you to perform a survey as part of a deal, we hope to keep the deal as simple & quick beyond that. Let's make it happen now so you can be sailing in your new boat early in the spring.
Because of the low price, this boat is within the the price range of those who would be considering the roominess of a Catalina 30-36 from the 80's or the sailing characteristics of a J/Boat or C&C from the same era. You do not have to compromise with this Beneteau First series boat which gives you both cruising comfort and high sailing performance at the price of smaller, slower boats.
With its 6'-5" fin keel, folding prop, stack-pack mainsail, spinnaker package, hydraulic backstay, cockpit traveler, this boat will reward the sailor who understands or wants to learn the finer aspects of boat handling. When done right this boat will easily pass larger boats. Of course you don't have to be active with these things to sail faster than the typical cruising boat in this size range. You can set them and forget them when just out to enjoy an easy afternoon or perhaps doing something in between like occasionally adjusting the backstay for the average wind strength.
I could also see this boat appealing to someone looking to do some racing in a boat they can take their family cruising in. Of course, a set of new racing sails and a prepped bottom would help get the most out of the boat, but unlike most of the other racer/cruisers from that era that have been raced hard and put away wet, this one has a solid glass hull that has recently been inspected by a surveyor without any issues. The decks are also in good condition with no delamination. The bones are good. The interior is nice. There are no funky odors. It is ready to go today without needing anything.
