New Metallic Paint - 2016! This is a very cool, high performance daysailer that looks amazing. She is easily sailed by one with a self-tacking jib & all lines led to helm or can be raced with 3 or 4 with its large asymmetrical spinnaker flying from a fixed carbon sprit. The structural grid is carbon and there are carbon reinforcements throughout the structure including the bulkhead. See the video for more construction details. A Volvo Penta 13 hp diesel with saildrive provides auxiliary power. There's sitting headroom below and berths for four as well as a marine head with holding tank, sink, stove and icebox so some overnights are possible or just plenty of room to store gear at the end of the day. This will be the coolest sailboat in your harbor that can be sailed solo.

Accommodations

For a performance daysailer, I was impressed with the sitting-headroom accommodations on this stylish boat. There are berths to sleep up to four with two in the vee-berth and two on the long settee benches in the salon. There is a marine head cleverly hidden away and easily accessed under the vee-berth. On the starboard side of the companionway is a large built-in icebox while a sink with pressure water & a butane stove are to port. The cushions are red and the interior walls are covered with a white vinyl covering. While you may never spend a night on the boat, you certainly could and she may even make a decent platform for those who want to race the 1-2 type events.

Hull & Deck Construction

The main hull & deck are constructed of E-glass vacuum infused with vinylester resin over core-cell core. The structural grid, bulkheads and other critical structural components are reinforced with carbon fiber. All other composite parts are also foam core structures to save weight and increase stiffness including the lockers lids and internal furniture. The keel bolts are backed with stainless plates rather than just washers. The decks and cockpit are covered in 1/4" teak and the hull is awlgripped in metallic silver which adds the mini Wally look. The video link explains the construction in more detail.

Sails & Rigging

Laminate fully battened mainsail

Laminate roller-furling, self-tacking jib

1,000 sq ft asymetrical spinnaker flown from fixed carbon sprit

Aluminum mast & boom

Wire standing rigging

Under-deck roller-furler

Rigid vang

All running rigging leads to cockpit with control lines duplicated on both sides of cockpit just forward of helmsman.

Reverse German jib sheet with traveler control

German 6:1 mainsheet

10:1 backstay control

This boat is easily sailed by one with its self-tacking jib and lines led to helmsman. It is easy to change gears with the backstay control at your fingertips. With its high ballast to sail area ratio, there is no need for crew hiking out to get the most out of the narrow low-drag hull. This boat goes upwind like a rocketship. I liken it to a high performance sailplane that is able to reward a good driver/tweaker with exceptional height to windward or also make the novice's job of going fast as easy as he wants it to be. If you add a crew or two, flying the asymmetrical kite from the fixed carbon sprit will add another dimension of speed, performance & fun as you fly downwind surfing the waves.
